Fourth Annual Spring on Main Takes Place Saturday in Hyannis

KA_Hyannis_Welcome Historic Main street sign_11315HYANNIS – The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District will host the fourth annual Spring on Main Festival on Saturday.

The free, family-friendly event will feature local bands, singers and artists along Main Street and free yoga on the Village Green.

“It’s the awakening of the season,” said Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District Executive Director Elizabeth Wurfbain. “On Cape Cod we don’t really have a spring so we have to nudge it forward and it coincides with the tulips and the daffodils will be out and the grass will be green.”

Some of this year’s highlights include The Common Ground Singers, Just Plain Folk, the Cape Conservatory C Jazz Groups and Steel Drummer Robert Gabriel.

The Hyannis Public Library will host local magician “The Amazing Richard” and local author Mick Carlon will sign his new book “Girl Singer”.

Other activities include a little train ride, trolley, a petting zoo, face painting, craft activities and balloon twister.

Wurfbain said events like this are needed in the community.

“We need that indication of the season and it means time to come out, time to have fun, spend some money, go shopping,” said Wurfbain.

The event is sponsored by Figawi and runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
