Hotel Deal Struck with Buzzards Bay Developer

homebuildingBUZZARDS BAY – A deal has been reached with a hotel developer proposing to build a 100-room hotel as part of a multi-use complex fronting the Cape Cod Canal.

That agreement was finalized with the developers of a proposed mixed-use project on Perry Avenue in Buzzards Bay.

Negotiations between the developer and the franchisee have not been finalized, so the name of the hotel chain has still not been announced.

The proposed hotel chain operates over 3,400 hotels in the country and has a reported revenue of more than $10 billion.

The complex covers 15 acres overlooking the canal and the hotel’s construction would be the first of three phases for the project.

Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Marie J. Oliva said the hotel is beneficial to the community.

“It compounds economic development over and over again because it will have a domino effect,” said Oliva. “Once you have something like that come in, more businesses will invest in downtown, no doubt.”

No specific date has been scheduled yet for groundbreaking.
