Indivisible Outer Cape Announces “Resistance Re-Set”

PROVINCETOWN – Indivisible Outer Cape, in partnership with the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, will host what they are calling a “Resistance Re-Set.”

Organizers say that the rally, due to take place later this month, will serve as a condemnation of Washington’s efforts to “dismantle democracy as we know it.”

Resistance Re-Set will take place in Provincetown on Sunday, September 17th and feature remarks from ACLU Massachusetts Political Director Whitney Taylor.

Laurie Veninger, a member of Indivisible Outer Cape’s leadership team, says that the group is non-partisan, “We are sort of a broad based coalition we have people from all walks of life and of all political affiliations and our main, unified goal is to protect our democracy and our civil liberties.”

Topics set to be discussed include defense of illegal immigrants, justice, democracy, open government, equality, and reproductive rights, with a question and answer session to follow.

“We’re kind of like stamping out a lot of little fires,” said Veninger, “You know, a lot of things that people were feeling comfortable about, LGBT issues, women’s rights issues, now all of a sudden where we’ve been knocked over.”

Veninger says that group members are also deeply concerned about changes to the current health care law, LGBT issues, social security, education, and the arts.
