In 1948 he graduated as a Cadet from LaSalle Institute, Troy, NY where he excelled in the Sciences. He took his talents and served his country as a Medic during the Korean War with the Navy, and was later assigned to the Marine Corp.

In 1969 he was transferred to the Boston area. The Resnik family moved to Westford, MA, where John and Catherine raised their three children. John was an active member of the community serving on countless committees for the Town and School departments.  He was President of the Kiwanis Club and President of the Westford Academy Boosters Club. In 1983, he was transferred to Southeastern MA, and he and his wife moved to Centerville.

John was an avid reader and history buff. He loved cooking and enjoyed watching Boston sports teams. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and grandsons in Cape Cod, Florida and Bermuda; and having a house full of guests to entertain.
