SANDWICH – Artists will be once again take to the streets in Sandwich next month for the 2018 edition of Plein Air.

The local artists will set up easels along the streets and byways in town at locations of their own choosing to paint or sketch their favorite scene and share the experience with the public.

The Sandwich Arts Alliance sponsored event is Friday, August 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Plein Air event manager Dianna Benson says it provides a great opportunity for residents and visitors to see local artists at work.

Artists will be wearing orange hats to help the public identify them, and a “location map” can be found online at sandwichartsalliance.org.

The public will also be invited to a cocktail party and silent auction the same evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Drunken Seal Restaurant.

Attendees will be able to view all the finished artwork, meet the artists and bid on their favorite pieces.

The goal of the Plein Air event is to unite the public and arts community in Sandwich and on Cape Cod.
