Orleans Special Town Election Tackling EMS Staffing

Orleans Town Hall

ORLEANS – Voters will decide whether to move ahead $925,000 dollars to add eight new full-time fighters to the local fire department at the Orleans Special Town Election on Nov 7.

It’s a move in-line with other towns across the Cape; towns including Eastham, Wellfleet and Provincetown have also bolstered their departments.

First responders across the Cape have reported increased call volume even in the off-season following an influx of more year-round residents during COVID.

Also on the ballot is $168,000 for additional staffing at the Recreation Department.

Vote by mail is available and in-person early voting will be available next week at town hall, said town officials.  The election will be held at the Senior Center on Rock Harbor Road. Polls are open from 9am to 7pm.
