‘Long Table’ Event Coming to Hyannis

HYANNIS – Tickets are still available for Long Table Day later this month in Hyannis.

The event is a four course meal put on by The Hyannis Main Street community and 13 restaurants located on Main Street, 600 guest are expected to attend.

The dinner will take place outside on Main Street from Barnstable Road to Pearl Street while the streets are blocked off from traffic.

“We are closing down the street where the Kennedy Museum is and then one long table will go basically from Pearl Street to Barnstable Road,” said Elizabeth Wurfbain, Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District Executive Director.  

“It’s the longest table in Massachusetts.”

The afternoon will commence with music and a toast by Jung-Ho Park, conductor of the Cape Cod Symphony, who will serve as the evening’s host.

The event is designed to showcase the neighborly atmosphere that is at the heart of Hyannis Main Street.

If you are not attending the meal there are other ways to take part in Long Table Day such as shopping, or walking along Main Street.

“It’s the largest event we’ve had and it’ll be our signature event, we really want it to be something that is known all over New England,” Wurfbain continued.

Guest are encouraged to vote for which restaurant has the best table décor via social media, the winning establishment will be awarded the People’s Choice award.

The restaurants hosting the meals include: Alberto’s Ristorante, Anejo Mexican Bistro, Brazilian Grill, British Beer Company, Colombo’s Café, Downtown Bistro, Embargo, Naked Oyster, Pizza Barbone, Rendezvous Café, Tap City Grille, Torino Restaurant and Bar, and The West End.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Main Street Lights Initiative, providing the funds for lights on the Main Street lampposts, part of a long term plan for year round, decorative and streetscape enhancing tree lights on Hyannis Main Street.  

The new decorative lights will be turned on for the first time during Long Table Day.

The event is set to take place Sunday, June 23rd starting at 5 p.m.
