SANDWICH – Sandwich police are investigating a bank robbery at Rockland Trust on Cotuit Road in Sandwich.
Police received a number of 911 calls at 11:41 this morning reporting an armed robbery in process at the bank.
The suspect entered the bank wearing a skeleton Halloween-style mask and displaying a black semi-automatic pistol, according to witnesses.
He ordered all bank employees and customers who were inside the bank to get on the floor.
He then grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and ran out the front door.
He was last seen running down Tom’s Way away from Cotuit Road, according to police.
Police said the suspect is a white male, six feet tall, in jeans and a black sweatshirt and white sneakers.
Anyone who was in the area and might have seen the man is asked to call the Sandwich Police Department.
Sandwich police are being assisted in the investigation by the FBI, Barnstable Sheriff’s k-9 unit, and the Sheriff’s Crime Investigation Unit.
