MARTHA’S VINEYARD – Martha’s Vineyard Hospital has been named one of the top 20 critical access hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association.

The hospital has been named to the rankings for the last two years.

Hospitals recognized in the rankings are noted for their achieved success in one of the three key areas of performance: quality index, patient perspective index and financial stability index.

In 2001, the hospital was designated as a critical access hospital and was one of three hospitals in the state to receive a five-star rating by the Hospital Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.

The hospital will be honored at an awards ceremony in October in Kansas City, Missouri.
