Mashpee Plans Meeting to Discuss Economic Development

MASHPEE – Selectmen in Mashpee are looking into ways to spur economic development throughout town.

The board has announced a joint meeting for late next month to feature Mashpee’s regulatory boards and officials in order to discuss the community’s needs and ways to make the region more appealing to new business.

Carol Sherman, Chairman of Mashpee’s Board of Selectmen said the meeting could be the start of real improvement for the town’s business climate.

“It’s bringing people aware of what needs to be done in town, and where we go next to bring new growth,” she explained.

“And I think if there is change to be done, then the boards that are sitting at the table can do the change.”

As part of the effort, selectmen have also announced that they will be inviting members of the local business community.

Those include representatives from Willowbend Country Club, New Seabury, and Mashpee Commons, as well as officials from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Cape Cod Healthcare, and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

The meeting follows Mashpee’s efforts to confront wastewater infrastructure and housing.

It is scheduled for April 29th.
