Mass Audubon to Host ‘Flight of the Woodcock’ Viewing Program in April

WELLFLEET – It’s that time of year again and the woodcocks are dancing.

In April, the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Mass Audubon will host a program where the dazzling, aerial displays of the courting male woodcocks can be seen.

Join a Wellfleet Bay naturalist to witness woodcocks take part in a springtime ritual not to be missed.

The location where the birds will be viewed has yet to be determined. Participants will be contacted the day prior to the program with a meeting location on the Outer Cape based on the latest sightings.

Admission to the program is $10 for members of Mass Audubon and $12 for nonmembers. It will take place on April 5 from 7:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m.

Participants are asked to arrive and check in at least 10 minutes before the program begins, to dress for the weather, and be prepared to walk up to one mile. Binoculars and a flashlight are also recommended.
