Mayflower Beach Bathhouse Now Open

DENNIS – The Town of Dennis has announced the completion of the Mayflower Beach bathhouse and concession area construction project.

The project was approved at the annual town meeting back in 2017.  Construction began this past fall and was paid for through the Beach Improvement Capital Fund.

Dennis Beach and Recreation Director Dustin Pineau said, “From start to finish with plans and permitting this has been going on for almost three years.”

“The beach-house is funded from the Beach Improvement Fund, which is a portion of every day pass and resident beach sticker, so for the people of Dennis if you buy a beach pass you bought into the fund but none of the tax payers money was used for this facility.”

The new bathhouse and concession building provides a larger, handicapped accessible facility that affords more functionality for beach goers.

“I think it’s going to provide something that hasn’t been here in the 22 years that I have been here and that’s going to be a nice functional and accessible facility for the patrons,” Pineau said.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Friday to celebrate the completion of the project and the opening of the 2019 beach season.
