HYANNIS–Mayflower Sails 2020, an event to honor the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower‘s voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, was announced last month.
The free six day event will be held next May at the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston. This will mark the first time that the renovated Mayflower will be in Boston.
“It’s going to be fun, educational, culturally inclusive, with lots of programming for families, including opportunities to board the ship,” said Mayflower Sails 2020 Chair and Founding Sponsor Stephen Brodeur.
From May 14-19, tourists and other attendees will be able to partake in this unique historical experience, which is what Brodeur and the Mayflower Sails 2020 team were aiming for.
“That was our goal: to bring history alive and to make it family oriented and fun and, of course, educational,” Brodeur explained.
“And we hope to capture everybody’s imagination on the 400th anniversary next spring.”
