WEST BARNSTABLE – A mother-daughter team is leading the ballet program at the Cape Conservatory.

Artistic Director of the Cape Conservatory dance program Jane Caputo has paired with her daughter Lindsay to broaden the ballet offerings on the two Cape Conservatory campuses.

“Lindsay has loved to dance since she was just a toddler. It’s been so rewarding to watch her grow and flourish as a dancer, and now to have the opportunity to watch her coach other dancers is amazing,” Jane said. “She’s an incredible teaching artist.”

Jane and Lindsay teach students ranging in age from 18 months to adult.

Offerings at the Conservatory range from “Mommy & Me Go to Ballet” for toddlers and guardians, to advanced pointe and adult beginners ballet.

Conservatory dancers are currently rehearsing for “The Nutcracker” which they will present at the Simon Center for the Arts in Falmouth this December.

Select dancers will also perform “Peter & the Wolf” with the Cape Symphony at the Young People’s Concerts on November 6.

Lindsay’s credits as a ballerina include “Clara” and the “Sugar Plum Fairy” in “The Nutcracker.”

Jane was the founder, artistic director, principal dancer, and choreographer of the St. Mary’s Ballet in Maryland. She also wrote and choreographed several ballets, including “Moonlight Sonata (in the 21st Century),” which premiered last June on Cape Cod.

Jane has been teaching at the Conservatory since 2008.
