ORLEANS – After being completely closed for most of the summer so far, the Town of Orleans is allowing limited vehicle access at Nauset Beach South.
The town is implementing the Habitat Protection Plan, which went into effect on Thursday.
Vehicles will only be allowed access to Nauset South during specified times and all vehicles must be off the beach by 6 p.m.
In addition, all drivers are required to have a passenger over the age of 16 who must walk ahead of the vehicle in the specified self-escort zones.
The plan allows vehicle access to the trails while nesting piping plovers are still in the area.
Dogs are not allowed.
