HYANNIS – NOAA has announced an increase in the commercial scup quota limit for the 2017 winter period, which runs from November 1st to December 31st.
Unused quota from the previous winter period from January 1st to April 30th, is being rolled over in the next period.
The revised winter commercial scup quota is over 5 million pounds, which is up 76 percent.
The revised winter commercial scup possession limit for the season is 18,000 pounds per trip, which is up 50 percent.
When state and federal possession limits are different, fishermen are required to abide by the more restrictive of the two.
