SANDWICH – Sandwich Fire and Rescue crews transported a man to the South Shore Hospital Trauma Center in Weymouth after a head-on crash early Sunday morning in Sandwich.
Acoording to Cap. Tim McMahon, the head-on crash occurred just before 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Cotuit Road and Route 130.
When crews arrived the victim was trapped in his vehicle and needed to be freed with the Jaws of Life.
McMahon said both vehicles involved, an SUV and a small sedan, were heavily damaged.
The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene and refused to be taken to the hospital.
Sandwich Police are investigating the accident and Mashpee fire crews assisted on scene.
