Orleans Hosting Forum on County Government

ORLEANS – A forum in Orleans Wednesday afternoon will aim to educate residents about Barnstable County Government.

Some of the topics include what type of impact Barnstable County government and the Cape Cod Commission have on Cape Codders, what services Barnstable County provides, and what the county controls and does not control.

Barnstable County Administrator Jack Yunits will be in attendance and will speak with residents about a wide range of issues, such as how the county directly benefits the Lower Cape and how the town’s share of county government is determined.

Yunits is also expected to address the recent proposals to change the make-up of the Barnstable County Commissioners by adding two elected positions to the three-member board.

The forum is free and open to the public and will be held at the Orleans Senior Center from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
