BOSTON (AP) — State legislators probing the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles are growing impatient with Gov. Charlie Baker’s administration’s response to document requests.
In a strongly-worded letter sent Tuesday to Secretary of Transportation Stephanie Pollack, the House and Senate chairs of the Legislature’s Transportation Committee expressed “overall frustration and deep concern” with the level of cooperation in producing the documents.
The letter suggested the committee would use its subpoena power if the requests aren’t met.
Lawmakers are probing the registry’s failure to act on information that the driver involved in a crash that killed seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire in June had previously been charged with drunken driving in Connecticut.
A spokeswoman for Pollard says the agency has turned over hundreds of documents and is working to comply with the additional requests.
