Brewster Town Administrator Search Committee
BREWSTER – What started as a pool of 31 applicants has been dwindled down to three finalists for Brewster’s next town administrator.
The search committee announced the finalists to the Select Board at a Monday meeting. Committee Chair Carol Forgione named Wellfleet town administrator Daniel Hoort, Wenham town administrator Peter Lombardi, and Norwell town administrator Peter Morin.
“Our mission was to present you with excellent candidates,” Forgione told the Board.
“The main thing that the Committee wanted to make you aware of was how thorough of a process we went through and how important it was to us to spend a significant amount of time coming up with the attributes and credentials that we would be looking for in candidates.”
The town saw applications from across the country, and of the original pool of 31 applicants, 11 of them were viewed as a legitimately qualified candidate. Five of those eleven candidates were interviewed.
The Select Board said in October that ideal candidates would have a strong knowledge and handle of town finances, and could be an effective communicator.
“Before the interview process we spent a significant amount of time coming up with interview questions that we wanted to make sure covered all of the attributes needed for the position. The end result of that after the five interviews is the three candidates we have to present to you today,” Forgione said.
The search committee will put the candidates through a final process consisting of two phases.
First, each candidate will come to Brewster for a day to meet various town officials and then go on a driving tour of the town. Then, on January 26, the community will get a chance to meet the finalists in an open house on January 26, where the Select Board will interview the candidates.
