Regional Transit Authority to Continue Discount Program for Seniors in 2018

HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority is extending their popular “Free Fare Wednesdays” for seniors 60 years of age and older through all of 2018.

The agency cited their year-long effort in collaboration with the Councils on Aging and subsequent reforms already put in place toward improving senior mobility as the reason.

“We spoke to several participants who look forward to taking advantage of our special every week. Many get together with friends to dine, shop and see a movie while others are using it to explore the Cape by visiting a different town each Wednesday,” said CCRTA Administrator Tom Cahir.

“We are very pleased with the way this has taken off,” he said.

More than 7,000 seniors have taken advantage of Free Fare Wednesday since it was unveiled this past June.
