Roger Clemens Named 2017 Willowbend Honoree

MASHPEE – Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee has announced Roger Clemens as their 2017 Honoree.

The seven-time Cy Young Award winning pitcher will receive the award at the club’s annual ceremony next month, which in the past as recognized fellow sports legends Bobby Orr and Jack Nicklaus.

“Roger is a longtime friend of Willowbend and Southworth Development, going back to 1992 when he participated in the inaugural Willowbend Children’s Charity Pro-Am. We are so proud to recognize him as our 2017 Honoree,” said David Southworth, Founder and CEO of Southworth Development LLC, which owns and operates Willowbend.

Clemens, whose career spanned 24 seasons, has been selected to 11 All-Star Teams, was named American League MVP and took home two World Series Championships in his dominant career.

“Roger is one of the greatest baseball players of all-time and his charitable work throughout his career, and in all the years since, has truly shaped the lives of thousands of children around the country,” said Southworth Development’s Chairman Joe Deitch.

Clemens and his wife Debbie also founded the Roger Clemens Foundation in 1992, an organization that seeks to support underprivileged and special-needs children through educational, charitable, and religious activities.
