Sandy Neck Artwork Now Hanging at Barnstable Town Hall

BARNSTABLE – Residents handling business at Barnstable Town Hall may notice some new artwork in the building.

Nine paintings and drawings inspired by Sandy Neck Beach are now hanging on the hearing room and selectmen’s conference room walls on the second floor of the building.

The works were put on display as part of the “Art on Loan” program. Town officials say the initiative provides an opportunity for local artists to display their work.

The paintings and drawings were the result of a recent artist’s excursion out to the House at the Halfway Point on Sandy Neck. The participants were invited to the workshop, which was put on by the town of Barnstable, the Cape Cod Art Association, and Sandy Neck Beach Park.

“The exhibit will feature a variety of styles that capture the personal expression of each artist, with a display of the neutrals of winter, the budding of spring greens and the brilliance of autumn in the dunes,” said artist Betsy Payne Cook.

Residents can meet the artists at a reception on Wednesday, November 15th from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

The artwork will be on display until November 30th.
