Sen. deMacedo Gets Ways and Means Assignment

Vinny deMacedo

PLYMOUTH – Plymouth-Barnstable State Senator Vinny deMacedo has received his committee assignments for the 2019-2020 Massachusetts legislative session.

Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr (R-Gloucester), has appointed deMacedo as Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means among other key committee assignments.

As the highest ranking minority member on the Ways and Means Committee, Senator deMacedo will continue his role in crafting the annual budget and serving as a member of the six member committee of conference that reconciles the annual budgets proposed by the House and Senate.

“I am honored and humbled by the faith Minority Leader Tarr has shown in me by appointing me to this important position,” said Senator deMacedo.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee to represent the interests of my community and constituents in crafting budgets that are fiscally responsible and responsive to the needs of those we represent.

This will be Senator deMacedo’s third term as the ranking minority member on the Senate Committee on Ways and Means after serving in the same position as a member of the House of Representatives.

He’ll also serve as Ranking Minority Member on the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing dealing with issues such as MassHealth funding.

“I am excited to take on this new challenge as Ranking Minority on the Committee on Health Care Financing,” said deMacedo.

“Health care spending is one of largest portions of our annual budget and I look forward to working with my colleagues to respect the needs of those who rely on MassHealth while being responsible with the tax dollars that have been entrusted to us by our constituents for these programs.”

DeMacedo’s other committee assignments include the Senate Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets, the Senate Committee on Personnel and Administration, the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Business, the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, and the Joint Committee on Financial Services.
