BOSTON – The progress that’s been made in Massachusetts towards ending HIV/AIDS was celebrated in a statement from Senator Julian Cyr on World AIDS Day.
Cyr said we must recommit ourselves to further medical breakthroughs, treatment as prevention and sexual health education, among other efforts.
He also mentioned that Provincetown and the Outer Cape served as an example of a community-effort and compassionate response when there were few answers and the failure of national leadership.
Cyr added, “To those across the Cape and Islands who have lost loved ones to AIDS, my family is among those who mourn and remember, and I will make sure they are not forgotten.
We will not relent until HIV is relegated to history.”
AIDS has claimed thousands of lives in the Bay state.
