YARMOUTH – A joint investigation by Yarmouth and State police led to the arrest of a South Yarmouth man on child pornography possession charges on Wednesday.
The Massachusetts State Police Computer Crimes Unit assigned to Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force notified Yarmouth police that James Lawrence, 48, was allegedly downloading children pornography from a registered email account.
Yarmouth police found where the suspect was living and surveilled Lawrence’s residence on Witchwood Road and his daily activity.
Police say they followed Lawrence to a nearby gas station at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and seized the suspects cell phone with a search warrant.
According to Yarmouth police, the State Police Internet Crimes Against Children unit found two child pornography images on the cell phone.
Yarmouth and State Police arrested Lawrence at 5:15 p.m. at his home.
Lawrence was released on bail and is scheduled for arraignment on two counts of felony possession of child pornography Thursday in Barnstable District Court.
