BOSTON – The Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership has received $68,000 in grant funding from the state to support buy local organizations.
The funding will be used to support farmers with the implementation of the Healthy Incentives Program and farmer’s market technical assistance.
Funds will also help the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension to enhance the Buy Fresh Buy Local Cape Cod brand, along with allowing the Island Grown initiative to improve education, and help Sustainable Nantucket implement several programs to strengthen the buy local movement in surrounding areas.
The SEMAP was one of six organizations and projects to receive $297,000 in grant funding from the Baker-Polito Administration.
“The Commonwealth’s nation-leading buy local movement helps ensure the continued viability of family farms in Massachusetts, reduces the environmental impact of shipping agricultural products, and stimulates local economies,” said Gov. Charlie Baker. “Our administration remains committed to encouraging all Massachusetts residents to buy locally-grown food products and supporting regional buy local organizations as they work to promote and expand the market for Massachusetts agriculture.”
