Boys And Girls Club Stays Busy During School Vacation Week

MASHPEE – The Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod is in the middle of a week-long set of programming during school vacation week.

Executive Director Ruth Provost said the kids are being kept busy.  “They can play games, do sports in the gym, art programs, read, whatever we’ve got going on,” she said.

Any children who will be at the club all day are required to bring a lunch and two snacks.

Provost points out that there will be extended hours for a good reason.  “If parents are working, it’s really tough to figure out what to do with the kids.  What we’ve done is open at 7:30 so they have time to drop off before work, and we stay open until 6:00,” she said.

Several field trips were held earlier this week, including Coco Key Water Park, the Whydah Museum and skating and the Hyannis Youth and Community Center.

A trip to Lazer Gate in Fall River is planned for Friday.

The cost to attend activities at the club is $10, $20 for non-members.  Membership for the entire school year is just $100 and includes all of the club’s programs including the gym, high speed internet, games, tutoring and more.
