FALMOUTH – A piece of land on Spring Bars Road that was bought by the town in 2010 to build affordable housing was the subject of a memorandum of understanding signed last month.
Falmouth Selectmen and the Falmouth Community Housing Committee agreed to let the Robert B. Our company, who was contracted for the town’s sewer project, to use the lot to temporarily store construction materials such as gravel and pipes.
Additionally, a task force was formed to work on the affordable housing prospects for the 21-acre lot.
Falmouth Assistant Wastewater Superintendent Amy Lowell said the storage will only last about two years, during which time the parcel’s location will be of high value to the ongoing sewer project.
“This parcel is centrally located in the Little Pond Sewer Service area, and use of it for construction staging would be of benefit to the town as a whole,” Lowell said.
Lowell said using a centrally located parcel will reduce traffic outside the service area, crossing Route 28.
The Robert B. Our company has agreed to clear the lot once the sewer project is complete.
