ORLEANS – Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game Commissioner Ron Amidon was in Orleans this week to mark the opening of a new fish passage.

Amidon joined local officials to celebrate the completion of the passage at Pilgrim Lake.

It serves migrating Alewives and American eels and is the result of a collaboration between the Town of Orleans and DFG’s Division of Marine Fisheries.

So far this season, over 6,000 have entered into Pilgrim Lake.

The passage was first built in 1935.
