TRURO – Truro police are investigating a case of illegal cutting at an bayfront home along Knowles Heights Road.

The homeowner reported the cutting on her property to police on Friday, March 27, and police are investigating the report of malicious destruction of property, according to Truro Police Lieutenant Craig Danziger.

The homeowner, who has a primary address off Cape, was conducting a check of her residence when she discovered that over two dozen trees had been either topped or cut down for the sole purpose of improving another property owners view of Cape Cod Bay, Danziger wrote in a statement about the crime.

“The brush from the destroyed trees were left in place for the victim to deal with. The trees were cut/destroyed without the victims knowledge or permission, and as would be expected, she is devastated,” Danziger wrote.

There are no suspects at this time.

The Truro Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible. It is believed the trees were destroyed sometime between mid January and mid March. Any information can be directed to Lt Craig Danziger.
