Vineyard Haven Hires New Police Chief

TISBURY – The Town of Tisbury on Martha’s Vineyard has a new police chief.

He was officially hired last week. Former Sturbridge Police Lt. Mark Saloio will take the top cop job at $155,000 annually and must live in one of the island towns.

At a meeting in early September, Selectmen authorized town administrator Jay Grande to see if he could come to terms on a contract with Saloio after a successful interview with the Board.

The board also approved the hiring of an additional officer on the Tisbury force, Saloio begins his new position November 5th.
