WAQUOIT – The Waquoit Bay Reserve will host two Landscaping for Resilience workshops over the next two weeks.

All About Trees is Thursday, November 7. The event will feature guest speaker Russell Norton, Agriculture and Horticulture Extension Educator for the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, and will focus on assessing yards for hazards and conducting tree health assessments.

It will also cover how to handle tree damage and how to find professionals when skills beyond that of the homeowner are required.

Wrangling Rainwater on the Homestead and other Landscaping Choices for a Changing Climate will be held Thursday, November 14.

The program will discuss practical ways of managing storm water to avoid property damage and to protect water quality.

There are landscape design choices that welcome the rain and offer alternatives to the traditional landscape. There are also ways to conserve water during dry periods.

The programs are from 3:30 to 4 p.m. at the Waquoit Bay Reserve Visitor Center on Route 28 in Waquoit.

Preregistration is preferred but not required. To register, visit waquoitbayreserve.org.
