Wellfleet Town Meeting Monday

 

WELLFLEET – Voters in Wellfleet will have a broad array of spending articles to deal with at town meeting on Monday, including a $7.5 million debt exclusion for a dredging project in town owned waters.

The money would be borrowed over a 15 year timeframe and the measure has the support of the Selectmen but does need approval at the town election April 29th.

Voters will also consider the purchase of tidal property along Indian Neck and around to Field Point and Blackfish Creek currently owned by a realty trust, the asking price is $2.8 million. The property is home to just under 76 acres of aquaculture cultivation on 24 farms.

An article calling for the hiring of two new full time firefighters on the warrant at a combined cost of $168,000 annually.

Also requested is $885,000 for a new police cruiser, fire truck and vehicles for the DPW.

Wellfleet Town Meeting is scheduled to get underway at 7 Monday night at the Wellfleet Elementary School.
