YARMOUTH – As winter settles in across Cape Cod, the Garden Club of Yarmouth will be holding their January meeting to help us think about spring.

This month the topic will be how conservation of the Earth can extend through gardening to our oceans and ocean resources.

The region’s 400-year-old business of Cape Cod fishing will be in focus with one of the top officials from the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance.

Seth Rolbein, director of the Cape Cod Fisheries Trust at the Alliance, will be the guest speaker.

His topic will be “Stewardship of Cape Cod Fishing.”

The Garden Club said the Alliance knows how to nurture a healthy marine environment to be sure there will be generations of fish and fishermen in the future.

The event takes place on January 15 at 1 p.m at the Yarmouth Senior Center. A $5 donation will be accepted at the door.
