BOURNE – Louisville’s Nick Solak crushed a 1-1 heater with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning at Doran Park last night to pace the host Bourne Braves over the first place Hyannis Harbor Hawks, 4-2.

With one out and deadlocked in a 2-2 tie, Braves’ first baseman Reid Humphrey’s (2-3) ripped a single and was followed by a basehit from DH Charles Galiano (Fordham) to put two men on. A strikeout by Hyannis pitcher Marc Skinner (Troy State) for the second out made things look dim for the hosts until leadoff man Solak (2-4, 2 RBI) provided the heroics with his three-bag blast.

The 4-2 lead made a winner out of middle-reliever Cody Sedlock (Illinois) and Austin Conway (Indiana State) notched the save.

Bourne shortstop Camden Duzenack (Dallas Baptist)  also went 2-3 on the night.

Brewster Whitecaps Get Outhit but outlast Y-D Red Sox in Extra Innings

Stony Brook Field was a joyous place last night for the Brewster Whitecaps as the hosts walked off with a 4-3 win in 10 innings thanks to a bases-loaded, two-out walk.

Down 3-2 until they tied it at 3-3 in the ninth on an Eli White (Clemson) sacrifice fly to plate pinch-runner Jack Meggs (Washington), the Whitecaps loaded the bases twice in the bottom of the 10th inning before Tyler Ramirez (UNC-Chapel Hill) walked on four straight pitches and Juan C. Escarra (Florida International) scored for the game-winner.

The RBI-walk by Ramirez made a winner out of reliever Thomas Hackimer (St. John’s) who went two innings and struck out three while allowing no runs to close out the affair.

Cole Billingsley (South Alabama) was the sole hitter in the game to collect multiple hits. He went 2-5 with one RBI for the Y-D Red Sox who banged out 10 hits to Brewster’s five.
