The British Beer Company on Cape Cod: Great Food at a Great Price

The BBC appears on many of our “Best Of” lists, proving just how dependable the place is. It’s widely regarded as one of the best places to have a drink on Cape Cod, which, with a name like British Beer Company, isn’t entirely unexpected.

But cast away all notions of the BBC as just another watering hole. It’s got class: a warming fireplace, a menu spotlighting old-world flavors with an American spin, and a relaxing atmosphere.

Another thing the BBC has going for it – there are three locations on Cape Cod, and another nearby in Plymouth!

British Beer Company Locations

The key differences between each British Beer Company location mainly have to do with drinks. While you can expect to find some well-known brews on the menu, each restaurant focuses on what is regionally available.

The Plymouth location, 6 Middle Street, came first in the line of BBCs. The little pub does not feature a full food menu, though, since there’s no room for a kitchen. What it lacks in food, however, it makes up for with beer and drink selection, karaoke nights, and plenty of live music events.

The Upper Cape has two British Beer Company locations, one in Falmouth and another in Sandwich.

The Falmouth location at 263 Grand Avenue has gluten free menus for those seeking specialty fare.

Following the classy old-world style of its hometown, the Sandwich location’s décor is modeled after pubs in the town’s sister city of Sandwich, England. Find them at 46 Route 6A.

The BBC at 412 Main Street in Hyannis is a denizen among the many restaurants along that road. Live music and dancing are regular occurrences at this hot spot.

The Menu at British Beer Company

A pub-lover’s paradise, the BBC has tons of beer, tempting snack foods and heartier meals to boot. Sandwiches, Shepard’s pie and burgers round out a surprisingly diverse menu with options for most specialty diets.

From quesadillas to crabcakes, the appetizer portion offers enough to beat out any bar snack. But Cajun chips and sweet potato fries are available if you’re just there to watch the game.

The veggie-burger is at the top of the sandwich menu at the BBC – not because the restaurant is trying to turn you vegetarian, but because it is actually tasty enough to warrant consideration. The brioche bun alone is a gustatory delight.

British fish ‘n’ chips are of course at the top of the “traditional” section of the menu, followed by other classic English fare like Shephard’s Pie and Bangers and Mash.

For something a bit more familiar, try a pizza: choose between a traditional, multigrain and gluten-free crust, and top it with wild mushrooms & arugula, smoked Tasso, or a combination of their specialty toppings.

Desserts vary by location and by the week, but the British Beer Company is known for creating beer-infused treats suitable for sharing or hoarding.

About the British Beer Company

Beer snobs and sea dogs alike can be found within the dark and cozy configurations of all the BBC locations. While it gives patrons the opportunity to visit an English pub without crossing the Atlantic, it firmly grasps the locality on this side of the pond.

An array of trivia nights, live music, karaoke and other interactive events keeps the regulars piling in and attracts fresh folk, too.

The BBC works regularly to spotlight local brews, such as Cisco Brewers, Cape Cod Beer, Bad Martha, Devil’s Purse, Hog Island, and Mayflower.
