CHATHAM -Members of a Cape Cod non-profit organization that helps families build affordable homes in their community, celebrated 100 homes built Thursday night.
Habitat for Humanity held a celebration at the Wequasset Resort in Chatham for hitting their milestone of building 100 homes on Cape Cod.
“This is also a big fundraiser for us because obviously we have to keep raising funds looking forward,” said Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Vikki Goldsmith.
Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod was founded in 1988 and the first home was dedicated in Wellfleet in November 1989.
Goldsmith said she is impressed with the organization’s effort to build 100 homes in such a short amount of time.
“It’s a tremendous achievement for the community because so much is done through community contributions, volunteerism and the sweat equity of the homeowners who build their homes with us,” said Goldsmith.
