YARMOUTH
–  The Yarmouth Police Department will host a “Back the Blue” prayer vigil in support of Law Enforcement starting at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Yarmouth Police Headquarters located at 340 Higgins Crowell Road in West Yarmouth.

This special free public event is open to everyone and is being coordinated by Ralph and Nadine Barry of Yarmouth Port as part of a national vigil being held in conjunction with the Texas funeral of Harris County Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth, who was ambushed and shot to death on only a few days ago while pumping gas for his patrol car.

Goforth is one of eight Law Enforcement officers shot and killed in the United States in the last month and one of four in the past 10 days.

On average, one Law Enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in the United States every 60 hours. Since the first known line-of-duty death in 1791, more than 20,000 U.S. law enforcement officers have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Take a stand with the men and women of Law Enforcement all across the United States and Cape Cod and the Islands.
