1 person killed 2 injured after fire tears through house in Hyannis



HYANNIS – A fire erupted in Hyannis shortly before 5:30 AM. Fire crews rushed to 326 Oakland Road to find the house fully involved. Two people were evaluated for burns. The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Statement from Hyannis Fire via State Fire Marshal’s Office: At 5:23 AM on Wednesday July 10, 2024 the Barnstable Police Department received a 911 call reporting a fire at 326 Oakland Road and dispatched the Hyannis Fire and Barnstable Police Departments. While responding they were advised of people trapped.

On arrival the single family home was substantially involved in fire and two occupants were outside the residence, reporting that another person was still inside.

A second alarm was requested bringing fire companies from Yarmouth, Dennis, Barnstable, West Barnstable, Cotuit, and C-O-MM to assist.

Two adult occupants were transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Sadly, one adult male was located deceased in the home.

The fire remains under investigation by the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Barnstable Police Department, and the Hyannis Fire Department.
