Updated: Woman seriously injured after being hit by boat propeller in Chatham

CHATHAM – Chatham Police report that at 3:40 p.n. Saturday, they assisted Chatham Fire Rescue, Chatham Harbormaster’ office, United States Coast Guard and Mass Environmental Police with a medical emergency that occurred on the water in Stage Harbor at the channel to Nantucket Sound.

A 27 year old female who was swimming was struck by a boat and its propeller. The female suffered traumatic leg injuries and was assisted by USCG and Chatham Harbormaster and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Chatham Fire. The victim was later transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Massachusetts Environmental Police and United States Coast Guard.
