New details: Wareham crash causes box truck to rollover and sends three including infant to hospital

WAREHAM – A box truck rolled over on Route 28 at the entrance to Wareham Crossing just off I-195 late Wednesday morning. At least one person was taken to Tobey Hospital, however, the extent of injuries was not immediately known. Mass DEP was called due to fuel leaking from from the truck. Traffic was heavily backed up in the area. Wareham Police are investigating the crash.

Statement from Wareham Police: n Wednesday, October 9, at 10:14 AM, Wareham Police, Fire and EMS responded to Cranberry Highway at the entrance of Wareham Crossing for a serious motor vehicle crash involving a truck. Officers arrived and found a box truck on its side and a vehicle with heavy front end damage. In addition, the truck’s fuel tank was ruptured and leaking. WFD personnel contained the hazards on both vehicles. Three people, including an infant, were transported to Tobey Hospital with injuries that were not-life-threatening by Wareham Emergency Medical Services.

The crash remains under investigation by Officer Stephen Harrison. The Wareham Police are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the accident to please call (508) 295-1212.
