Harwich Police arrest man on fourth offense OUI charge

kellyjohnHARWICH – On Sunday, Harwich Police Patrol Officer Brendan Brickley observed a vehicle traveling along Route 28 in West Harwich. He identified the operator as John Kelly, 52, of Leominster, MA, and learned that Kelly had a felony warrant for his arrest and a revoked driver’s license. The felony warrant was issued by the Yarmouth Police Department and charged Kelly with passing counterfeit money.

When Officer Brickley made a traffic stop on the vehicle, Kelley attempted to conceal his identity by providing Officer Brickley with false information that identified himself as a West Yarmouth man. Officer Brickley detected an odor of alcohol coming from Kelley and after a roadside investigation, Kelley was placed under arrest for OUI 4th offense, operating after license revocation for OUI, identity fraud, and the felony warrant.

Kelly was processed and held without bail at the Harwich Police Department until his arraignment on Monday morning.
