Man accused of stealing money from register at Wellfleet t-shirt shop

WELLFLEET – From Wellfleet Police: On Sunday September 29, 2019 at approximately 12:43 PM, the Wellfleet Police Department received a report from Riley’s T-Shirt Outlet on Route 6 that a white male entered the store and was acting suspicious. After the male party exited the store, the clerk discovered that money had been taken from the register and notified police. Upon arrival, officer’s set-up a perimeter of the area and discovered a male matching the description walking down Lieutenant Island Road. The male, identified as Edward Davis, 29, of Wellfleet, was taken into custody without incident.

After a subsequent investigation, it was discovered that Davis was involved in a Breaking and Entering of a residence in the area prior to the incident at Riley’s T-Shirt shop. The Wellfleet Police asks that if anyone saw something suspicious in this area to please call the department with any information.

Davis has been charged with Larceny from a Building, B&E into a Dwelling and three counts of Larceny from a Dwelling. Davis is being held on $1,000 cash bail pending his arraignment Monday at Orleans District Court.

Cape Wide News archives show Davis was one of three people arrested on September 12th after a crash outside a methadone clinic in Yarmouth. In that incident, Davis was charged with Operating under the influence of drugs and possession of a Class A substance, operating negligently to endanger, and operating without a license.
