EASTHAM – Two paddleboarders were rescued after they were unable to return to shore on their own. Eastham rescuers were called to the Bay off Sunken Meadow Beach sometime after 11 AM Monday morning. The Eastham fireboat and Wellfleet Harbormaster assisted in reaching the two who were apparently surprised by the strong winds and were drifting westward for about 2 hours. Luckily someone on the beach happened to see them waving and called 911. They were brought into Rock Harbor to be evaluated for mild hypothermia by EMTs but declined to go to the hospital.
