State Police began receiving calls about an erratic operator near the Bourne Rotary. That vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck continued northbound over the Bourne Bridge onto Route 25. The vehicle then traveled onto Route 25 East, heading westbound.

Trooper Jeremy Lockwood, who was on patrol on Route 25 East in that area, spotted the vehicle continuing westbound in the high speed lane. He positioned his cruiser in the middle travel lane and attempted to alert the operator to stop. The truck continued past Trooper Lockwood, narrowly missing his cruiser.

Trooper Lockwood then crossed over to the westbound side and paralleled the wrong-way operator. When it appeared that the truck was stopping, Trooper Lockwood crossed back over to the eastbound side and positioned his cruiser in front of the truck to protect oncoming traffic from a collision. The truck then rolled into the front bumper of the cruiser causing minor damage, but no injuries.

Following a subsequent investigation, the operator, Scott Koziol, 53, of Rumford, R.I., was placed under arrest on the following charges:
1. Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
2. Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
3. Marked Lanes Violation

Koziol was booked at the State Police Barracks in Bourne where he was released on $40 bail. He will be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday.
