Suspect Arrested for Multiple Motor Vehicle Break-Ins

DENNISFrom Dennis Police: On Friday, Dennis Police Detectives along with members of the Brewster, Harwich, and Chatham Police Departments arrested a Truro man for a series of motor vehicle break-ins committed in various Cape towns during the past week. 

A joint investigation began after vehicles in Dennis, Brewster, Harwich, Chatham, and Wellfleet had windows smashed and items stolen from them.   The victims’ vehicles had been located in popular recreation areas when they were broken into.  During the investigation detectives were able to identify a suspect through witness accounts, police intelligence, and the use of stolen credit cards taken from several of the victims’ vehicles.     

The suspect, identified as 28 year old Mohammed Sageir, was located on Friday evening driving the vehicle he used during the commission of the reported break-ins.  Sageir was stopped on Route 134 in Dennis and placed under arrest.  A search of the vehicle Sageir was driving yielded numerous stolen items connected to the various vehicle break-ins. 

Dennis Police are charging Sageir with two counts of breaking and entry to a motor vehicle, two counts of larceny, and fraudulent use of credit cards.  Sageir was held on $1000 cash bail pending his arraignment on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018. 

Sageir will also face charges from the Brewster, Harwich, Chatham, and Wellfleet Police departments.

Also assisting in the investigation were by the Barnstable, Wellfleet, and Quincy Police Departments, the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Commonwealth Fusion Center.
