VIDEO: Man dies in paddleboard incident off Nauset Light Beach

EASTHAM – Multiple agencies were called to Nauset Light Beach in Eastham around 12:30 p.m. Sunday after reported of a paddleboarder in distress.

Initial reports said the person was in the water about 300 feet offshore of the beach. The body, later identified as David Harmon, was pulled from the water.

Eastham fire along with Orleans and Chatham rescue boats and Coast Guard units all responded to the call for help.

A rescue boat pulled the victim from the water. 

Reports indicate Harmon may have suffered some type of medical condition.

Statement from Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office: At approximately 12:20 PM, police were notified of a man who had appeared to have suffered a medical event, fallen from his paddle board and was floating in the water off Nauset Light Beach in Eastham. The deceased has been identified as David Harmon, 55,  of Orleans. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has accepted jurisdiction of the case. The matter remains under investigation however at this time no foul play is suspected.
