College Light Opera Company Wraps Up 2018 Season

The College Light Opera Company, in Falmouth, has just wrapped up another successful season, thanks, as always, to an enormous group effort and incredible teamwork by everyone involved with the company and the theatre-going community.

“The 2018 Season was a huge success,” said Artistic Director Mark Pearson. “Preliminary results show that ticket sales were up this year. Our best-selling shows were ‘Cabaret’ and ‘The Music Man.’”

As part of the end of a season, the actors, musicians, stage crew and most of the administrative staff return to wherever in the world they call home, both near and far, hopeful to return once more next season. “They left the last week of August. The new class will arrive in early June,” Pearson said.

Those who remain are charged with the awesome task of finding funding for the following season, creating the next season’s schedule, recruiting for the next season and a variety of other key functions.

“There is a significant amount of office work associated with closing out the season, so we are in the process of doing that at the moment,” said Pearson. “We are also fully occupied with our ongoing capital campaign. And, yes, we are already prepping for next year. We have started preliminary choices for our 2019 season/curriculum and begun the process of preparing for recruiting.”

As for next season’s line up, it’s a bit early to say, but here’s just a small taste – “We don’t have anything determined yet about next season. We will certainly be doing two Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and a third operetta as well as plenty of Broadway favorites,” said Pearson.
