Small Business Saturday is Important on the Cape

Saturday, November 26 is Small Business Saturday or Shop Small Day or as we call it on Cape Cod, Shop Local.  In the spirit of this most important day of the holidays on Cape Cod, I asked a local Falmouth friend to give me her take on shopping local in Falmouth.  She’s a longtime Falmouth resident who raised her kids here and she and her husband both work in town.  Here’s her Eye on Falmouth suggestions.  If you’d like to make suggestions for your Cape Cod town, send me an email at CCB-Media.com!

I absolutely love Shop Small Saturday. That being said, I try to Shop Small as much as I can. I find that the service, attention to detail, uniqueness and quality of the merchandise far surpasses the “big” stores. Plus, I love supporting our Mom and Pop stores. They are the heartbeat of our town. That being said, you asked for some of my favorites, here you go.

I always shop at Blast from the Past. I can always get something unique there. It’s a great place to get some old time candy for stocking stuffers AND they carry vinyl….yep, real vinyl albums. There’s a flashback for you!

Homespun Gardens and Twigs are fabulous for a variety of different items, whether it be a wedding gift, shower gift, new home present or just an “I’m buying it for me” present.

You can’t beat Port Cargo, Liberty House and Green Eyed Daisy for women’s fashion. All three stores are locally owned and have gorgeous selections. Oh and I can’t forget, Under the Sun and Handworks in Woods Hole which both feature stunning merchandise crated by local artists.

A big surprise that people don’t know about is, drum roll here, Cape Cod Bagel. Not only do they have the best bagels and sandwiches BUT they have a fabulous selection of jewelry. You can do your shopping while you eat. Talk about a win- win! They have a very eclectic selection of jewelry that ranges from funky to classic and the prices are amazing and very affordable. I ALWAYS shop there!

If you need a gift for the man in your life, look no further than Eastman’s Hardware, where the service is beyond amazing AND check out their home and kitchen store there also. You won’t leave without finding something you need for your home!  And for men’s fashions, check out Board Stiff and Puritan.

Thanks!  Remember if you’d like to write about your favorite local shops in your town, send me an email!
